A huge thankyou for your support at the Awards!

Last night we attended the Tendring 4 Growth Business Awards and I wanted to share the joy!

Joe collecting the Award in Innovation for Sustainability

I was nominated for the Innovation in Sustainability category and invited to attend the awards evening as a Finalist, which was amazing as I do put a lot of time and energy into trying to be sustainable at work and at home so this is something that is very close to my heart!

The evening was a lovely event held at The Princes Theatre and organised by Tendring Council, sponsored by Colbea with music provided by Wully Bully. The food was pretty amazing too which is unusual for me to notice with my awkward requirements!

Awards started at 9.40pm and we arrived for the start of the evening at 7.15pm as requested so it was a struggle to fight the fatigue especially after a week of work and needing to wash my hair (an odd thing to include but for any Spoonies out there you’ll understand how exhausting washing my hair can be!).

My husband Jon helped look after me all evening and we had lovely people on our table from Hamford View Vintage Tea Room and Never Say Die Public House too plus one Councillor so this helped keep my anxiety under control, and I had a couple of very supportive friends checking on me via what’s app all day and throughout the evening too so I was very well cared for!

The Results!

We had 2 Highly Commended, a Runner Up and a Finalist in our category and as each award was called out we needed to go up onto the stage to collect and have our photos taken. The steps leading to the stage were in the centre so you had your back to everyone while coloured disco lights flashed and the bass was turned up for the music so a lot of stimulus but also intended to be fun and celebratory.

I was ready to stand up as they called the first Highly Commended in our category as I was convinced I wouldn’t have been awarded above any other business … but we were awarded Runner Up / 2nd Place out of the four! Colour me shocked!

Photos were taken individually with the category sponsor and then all finalists in a category had a group photo with the sponsor, and then at the end a big group photo! I’m looking forward to seeing the official photos as Jon tried to take some but there were too many people standing in front of him. When the group photo was being taken a small party cannon went off with a bang next to me and another lady sending confetti into the air and nearly sending us off the stage in fright! Thankfully we didn’t end up on the people below lol!

Judging:

Finalists and winners were chosen by a panel of judges so a big Thankyou for your support and also to everyone who nominated, wished us luck, gave advice, helped me work out what to wear (I rarely go out!) and boosted me with their enthusiasm and encouragement! It was a lovely evening, albeit very long and needing planning on my part, and I invite you to have a look at the Award, Flowers and Write Up in the event brochure.

These are the Tendring 4 Growth Small Business Awards and Tendring 4 Growth provide a lot for small businesses so do look the up!

Sustainability within Dog Training and in our Office:

I’ll be doing a write up about how we raise our sustainability profile and also about our current updates in digital sustainability too! It’s a very important topic to us, part of our values, and we love to link with and recommend other brands who are also keen on raising their own sustainability etc.
